Get ready to sing along

Kick it off, throw it in, have a little scrimmage,
Keep it low, a splendid rush, bravo, win or die;
On the ball, City, never mind the danger,
Steady on, now's your chance,
Hurrah! We've scored a goal.
City!, City!, City!

Christmas has come - and gone.
We had a proper "Norfolk" few days.
23rd December - went on seal watch down towards Horsey/Waxham followed by chips and beer as we made our way home in the rain.
Christmas Eve - last minute shop for fresh bits and bobs in Sheringham. Jenny did a charity bag-pack at Tesco's in Aylsham before going to work at The Roman Camp and the rest of us met up with Grandad and Sue for lunch in The King's Head in Holt. Home in time for Carols from Kings and settle in for Christmas. Did manage a quick pint in Sheringham as Jenny became desperate for a kebab.

Christmas Day, girls awake early but didn't get too excited till about 7:00am. Present opening fest ensued. Had a good visit to Granny's before she went for what turned out to be a really good lunch. Home to get on with our "lunch" and await Jim to arrive. Nice relaxing time with games and nibbles and drinks till we sat at about 5:00pm for a turkey and ham roast. Jim had brought a couple of top wines which helped wash everything down. Managed to stave off the telly till mid evening but was happy to snooze and flick around the channels till bed time. Oh yes - even managed a game of basketball!

Boxing Day - had to "do the dip".It was much warmer than usual down on Cromer beach though the sea was very cold. Anne (80) was my swim partner - brave old bird.  Met up with an old friend of Billy's (Barney) - the links are far too congruous to explain and detail without writing a book about it. The rest of the day was spent with my brothers at Dad's house in Langham. Super food, games, pressies, a walk, more food and a slide show.

Sunday 18 December 2011

This time next week........

School term is over till next year. Muggins here is working for most of next week - except Friday, oh and Tuesday when I meet up with my work colleagues for a festive beer or 4 in Norwich.

The weather has turned rather seasonal - quite a hefty snow shower today after granny had gone home. Not settling though and it looks like it's going to be a boring mild christmas.
DG and I did get into the christmas spirit with a visit to Felbrigg to sing carols

Rosie went to the panto in Shezza today and Jenny had to work (tee hee)

Most of the serious shopping has been concluded! Just bits and bobs and fresh food to get so watch out Morrisons later this week

Footie results pretty good this weekend - Hatters win on their travels to places I've never heard of (again) well done Jimbo for going and the super fairy Canaries did alright at Everton - Super Grant Holt Norwich's No9

Sunday 4 December 2011

4th December

Lamb in the oven!

4:30 and it's very dark. And cold. And raining (unusually)
Jenny is doing homework while listening to music, texting, tweeting etc. Don't know how she does it.
DG and Rosie are looking at Christmas trees at a tree fest in Fakenham with the twins of old Felbrigg.
I have been busy running around as usual - Jenny to netball, sweeping up leaves, fixing the flat tyre on the ride-on, booking lunch at The Kings Head Holt on Christmas Eve (bonus), visit mum, quick bike ride and prep up the roast supper. All in all, a jolly good day.
December is starting to take shape with a few socials coming onto the calendar. The main school events have come and gone already - Christingle service (excellent) and Christmas Fayre.
Christmas? I'm ready (I think)

November drawing to a close

Terribly sad news about Gary Speed. He always came across as a really nice bloke - never had a whinge and kept himself out of all the usual shenanigans that some professional sports stars get up to

So Norwich did win on Saturday - not quite 3-2 but 3pts
and Luton snuck a last minute winner too. Gawd I hope they get promoted out of the conference. Sneaking wins against dodgy Welsh town teams you've never heard of is getting beyond a joke

Had a great visit from G D S and J (including the footie) and an evening looking at embarrassing slides of Graham Billy and me as little boys. Didn't realise just how much time we spent in Norfolk as we grew up. Pictures of Felbrigg - that's only 2 miles from my home now.

Gave all the silver birches a haircut today. Graham helped out first thing but I built up enough courage to do them all before dark. I'll never be a lumber jack though - it is too tiring.

Busy week ahead
Girls at lots of events (swimming, gigging, netballing)
DG and me are going on strike on Wednesday - haven't done that for years - though I don't s'pose the world will notice if their maps are a day behind. And I don't expect any trouble on the picket lines of Barn Cottage either. I shall probably spend the day writing to Mr Cameron - he hasn't had a letter from me for nearly a week.......

Thursday night and all's well

Went to watch Holt Lights switch on with Rosie last night. Usual wonderful lighting up and down the High Street and some pretty good fireworks too. My highlight was the phot gallery showing some of their great photos onto the wall of the new Adnams shop.

I've had a request! Thanks Debbie.
I am going to predict a Norwich win against QPR on Saturday (sorry Debbie) Norwich 3 QPR 2. Warnock has been having a dig about Grant Holt so there is the incentive for him to score the winner, in the 97th minute.

Watched Rosie play 2 netball matches this week.
GVS lost against Beeston but played well and today they beat Colby 9-3. Rosie scored the first 7 goals in the first 5 minutes. Proud dad here!

Baby

Our good friends Fergus and Cate from East Beckham had a baby boy last night in the N&N. Very exciting. We had the rest of the Partridge family stay over and as you can imagine they found it difficult to get to sleep.

Sunday 20 November 2011

Is there an End of the Pier show?

Taken in Cromer this morning as the fog thickened.

Saturday 19 November 2011

OTBC.

Norwich at home against Arsenal today. Taking the old boy as Jenny is in the county Netball finals at the UEA. Sheringham are going to win again. Not so sure about Norwich.
Misty murky start to the day but it should be a great day to be out and about.
Good luck to the Hatters too - 1800 fans off to Cambridge. Brilliant

Poor old Mum

Her legs have got the better of her at the moment and she is currently in Knapton Ward of the N&N hospital in Norwich. An infection has spread leaving her very poorly so will need to be on a dose of antibiotics and watched over carefully for a few days. Hopefully she will be back in Sheringham before too long and can carry on getting used to her new surroundings there.

Monday 14 November 2011

Update on "How's your mum?" monday night

Poor old girl is in Hospital tonight. Her legs have got a nasty infection that has made her rather sick. 1st visit for her to the hospital in Norwich since she was born there 75 years ago. Shame really as only yesterday we were saying how well she appears to be since the awful days of last summer when she was so poorly. DG and me will go and visit her tomorrow  to see how she is getting on. Hopefully she will be back by the sea in a day or so.

Sunday 13th November - Rememberence Sunday

Another weirdly warm day in Norfolk. Calm before the storm?
Busy week been and gone
Today was Netball (Jen wins again), Brownies - Rosie at the Sheringham Service today, hedge cutting finished - look out trees, you're next. Beach hut cleared too. No time for a run but time for a pint on the pier. Nice supper and an abandoned game of scrabble.
Sad to hear about Peter Roebuck. I remember him being in the Somerset team.

Sunday Night

Boo. It's time to start to think about work again.
Been a great day - autumnal walk in Sheringham Park with Jen and Rosie followed by a chilly visit to Cromer (nice pint in the Red Lion). All followed up by a beautiful roast of local pork - where local = local - pig from Thurgarton, bought in Aldborough, eaten in Bessingham. Less than 4 food miles

My weekend predictions were rubbish. Norwich lost, Luton lost. And I have hurt my eye while cutting the hedge - a stick in the eye is painful.

Bring on winter. I am ready for it!

Saturday 5 November 2011

Back from School

Well done everyone.
Great little firework do at GVS.

The rain stayed off, the fire was good and I had my hot dog.

Shame about the footie today.

How's your Mum?

To make it easy for everyone to keep up with how Judy is getting on, I will report occasionally how she is doing in her new home in Sheringham

She's been there for 2 weeks now and by and large seems fairly happy. I haven't seen her looking quite so (relatively) well for a long while. Since the early summer when she was desperately poorly she is now snaffling biscuits and enjoying the odd wheel along the prom.
Since my relegation from the blue-eyed boy to dogsbody, I have a much better idea of how much Graham and Billy had to do for mum while she was in Stevenage. I know her mobility means there is very little she can do for herself but, lets say she is very good at making lists of things that need doing.
I will pop in and see her this morning after market and let her know she is appearing in a blog (that should confuse her)

Jez

Bonfire night tonight.

Looks like it's going to rain :(

Early Saturday morning - off to Sheringham market to buy seafood and meet up with the old boy for breaky in Roy Boys. Rosie had Daisy over for D's first ever sleep over and they are already in front of the telly. Hedge cutting is on the agenda before going up to the school for fireworks and a big fire (which I helped to build)

Norwich away to Villa - I'm going to predict a boring 0-0

Friday 4 November 2011

Friday 4th November

I've decided to blog about our life up 'ere in North Norfolk. It's as much about me remembering what we've been up to as well as keeping the rest of the world informed (as if you are bothered)
